Ting Shao Kuang is a Chinese artist born in Chenggu in 1939. At the age of 11, Ting was painting every day by using cooking oil as a medium for his pigments. Ting was accepted at Beijing’s Central Academy of Arts and Crafts in 1957. It was during that time that he discovered the works of artists such as Picasso, Matisse and Modigliani. Ting Shao Kuang is a renowned contemporary oriental painter in America. He is known for producing paintings and sculptures characterized by a combination of traditional Chinese painting techniques and expressive Western art forms. Ting Shao Kuang is responsible for a unique art form that neither belongs to the East nor the West, but to the world.
