Baby squirrels bust out of their burrow

A litter of baby Round-tailed Ground Squirrels (Xerospermophilus tereticaudus) poked out of their burrow for the first time to greet the sun and the world at large in a series of photographs taken by Eirini Pajak near her home in Florence, Arizona. Pajak sat in her car for weeks observing the squirrel burrow and was fortunate enough to capture the rookie rodents as they scurried out into the wild for the first time.
